Someone is getting a lot of attention on the "Nextdoor" neighborhood website that covers 15 neighborhoods around me, for asking advice to help their general anxiety. Many people are fearful today, always watching daily the negative reports from the news media, and I don't blame them. The advice they receive there on that site is mostly secular, advising them to seek council, take medicine, or both. Some advise going to church and seeking council. With what I have been seeing in many churches today, that either misinterpret or neglect the Bible to a great extent, even that advice may not really clear up their anxiety. So as not to be too "preachy", below is how I responded to the post. "Reject or avoid God, and line the pockets of other people with your money on an on-going basis" is the message I hear from much of the comments above. We are free to make that choice. I prefer to follow Philippians 4:6-7, which, if followed by everyone, would put a lot of Psychiatrists and Psychologists out of a job. "Be careful for nothing; (meaning don't worry or be negatively having anxiety), but in EVERY THING by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard/protect) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." I know human nature though, and Psychiatrists and Psychologist do not have to fear for their jobs. People will continue to ignore God's written Word.
