The tents of the camps of the tribes of Israel surrounding the Tabernacle in the wilderness are usually portrayed as being of equal size and side by side, three tribes on each of the four sides of the Tabernacle. That might make for a balanced, picture, but it gives us the wrong picture. That is not what God had in mind. God had something better than just a symmetrical picture, or a military state of order of defense. As usual, God had the cross of Jesus in mind, His plan of redemption and reconciliation.
